EMPOWERED BY NATURE
Our Board Members join us from the Missoula County area from a variety of backgrounds. They act as representatives of Inner Roads and ambassadors to the community, leading fundraising efforts and assuring that Inner Roads is pursuant of its mission, which is "to provide disadvantaged youth affordable outdoor therapeutic experiences that accelerate growth, healing, and empowerment." They volunteer their individual passion, experience, and insight at our monthly meetings, and are a wonderful addition to our team.
Bonnie Bishop MPH, CHES
Bonnie has a Master’s Degree in Public Health with a concentration in Community Health & Prevention Sciences from the University of Montana. Originally from Northern Virginia, Bonnie quickly fell in love with western Montana after working in Yellowstone National Park, and currently works as the Program Manager for the University of Montana Health & Medicine Division and the Western Montana Area Health Education Center.
Bonnie is also a Certified Health Education Specialist with training in health program assessment, planning, implementation, management, research, evaluation and advocacy. She has a passion for suicide prevention and behavioral health equity. After several transformative experiences in the wilderness, Bonnie strongly believes that anyone with need or interest, should be able to access the outdoors in a recreational and therapeutic way. She joins us as our Board Chair. She can be found romping around the wilderness, sharing time and space with dear friends, learning new crafts and skills, experimenting with plant-based meals in her kitchen (for better or worse) and continuing to explore all that Missoula has to offer.
Annie Bernauer LCSW, MA, Master Naturalist
Annie has a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Montana. She has been a Licensed Clinical Social Worker since 2011 and currently works in her own private practice. Annie is a Certified Master Naturalist and volunteers with several non-profit organizations to assist with connecting children and adults to our natural world through nature- themed educational programs. She joins us as our Administrative Manager & Board Secretary. Annie is also a blogger, owner of an Etsy shop and a homeschooling mama to two free spirited young children. She and her family live on an old homestead along a creek in the beautiful Bitterroot Valley of western Montana. She can often be found exploring nature, foraging for wild edibles, reading a good book, cooking from scratch, playing music, or creating her latest craft project.
